How a Trading Company Employee Started Solo Development Using AI
Nice to meet you. I'm Nakamachi.
This is my third year working at a general trading company, and this is my first post on Zenn.
I wasn't sure what to write about, so I'll start with a brief self-introduction.
🔹 About my main job
My primary work involves management accounting for our group companies and the parent company.
My specialty at the office is "standing between stakeholders and getting things done." It’s humble work, but surprisingly valued (I hope).
I graduated from an information science department, so I did a bit of programming in college. However, I have never worked as an engineer, and I don't write code in my current job.
🔹 About my days off
I love driving, saunas and hot springs, cafe hopping, and golf. I also enjoy traveling; walking around places I don't know is the most refreshing thing for me.
...That might make my days off sound fulfilling, but lately, I spend almost all my time developing apps.
I want to push development forward so much that I even open my PC at cafes when I'm traveling... haha.
I'm not even sure if I came to the cafe to relax or to fix my code.
🔹 Starting personal development with AI
Having a background in information science, I've always been interested in AI-related news. When I happened to see the news about Claude Code, it hit me: "Could I make web services super easily with this?" So, I actually went ahead and built some.
These are the ones currently running:
- warikankun.com
- keisyakun.com
- choseikun.com
- keikakukun.com
They run on code that is 99% AI-generated. All I did was give instructions like "add this feature" or "make this button a little smaller." haha
I am also currently developing an iOS app, which is in the process of being submitted to the App Store.
(It has been rejected five times, so it hasn't passed yet. Please, Apple, let it through soon.)
🔹 Tools I use
I don't stick to just one tool; I use different ones for different stages of the process.
- Claude Code — My main development tool and the one I rely on most. It's basically my partner now.
- Rork — Not very well-known, but it's convenient. I use it for scaffolding my iOS apps.
- Gemini — Excellent in terms of cost. I use it for image generation and API integration in apps.
- ChatGPT — I started using it recently. It's not cheating, it's comparative validation.
Rather than asking which one is the "strongest," each has its own strengths, so my style is to use them in combination.
I plan to write about useful tools and tips on Zenn as well.
🔹 Where I stand right now
My services are running, but revenue is still zero.
This article is also my first public post.
It would have been cool to write "I achieved amazing results," but reality isn't that simple. I have things I've built, and I'm currently at the stage of thinking about what to do next.
🔹 What I'll write on Zenn
I plan to write bit by bit about my personal development process and what I feel while using AI tools.
I want to share honest, relatable stories from the perspective of a non-engineer.
My update frequency is undecided. Please watch over me warmly if I slack off.
Thank you for reading. I look forward to connecting with you.
