Context Transport Format (CTF): Preserving AI Conversations

A Proposal for Transporting AI Conversations with Full Context

Introducing Context Transport Format (CTF)

As conversations with generative AI become longer and more complex,
they are no longer simple question-and-answer exchanges.

They represent chains of thought, decisions, and context.

However, today these contexts are extremely fragile.

When a conversation branches, prior assumptions disappear.
When copied into another tool, the reasoning behind conclusions is lost.
When relying on links or collapsible views, meaning breaks across systems.

I believe this is not a tooling problem,
but a format design problem.

The Core Issue

Human-friendly presentation (summaries, collapses)
and machine- or future-human-friendly storage
(full text, structure, chronology)
should be designed separately.

Most current systems mix these layers.

As a result,
context breaks the moment data is transported.

Context Transport Format (CTF)

I propose the concept of
Context Transport Format (CTF).

CTF is designed with a simple principle:

  • Keep information lightweight and collapsible during daily use
  • Fully expand context, structure, and chronology when exporting or transporting

CTF is not just a storage format.
It is a transport-oriented format for context.

Why This Matters Now

Future AI systems will reread, reinterpret,
and build upon past conversations.

If the original context is lost,
neither humans nor AI can reliably understand the reasoning.

CTF aims to become
a foundation for transporting context across time and systems.

This Is a Proposal, Not a Final Specification

This article does not present a finalized standard.
It presents a concept.

I hope this proposal serves as a starting point
for future discussions, implementations, and refinements.
